Tuesday 31 January 2012
6 Music Celebrates Kraftwerk, 30 years after The Model reached number 1,
with record label boss Mark Jones exploring the German band's influence
on electronic music.
It is the latest in Mark's occasional series of 6 Mixes, exploring
synthesised music past and present. In this special programme, Mark
talks in depth to Mute Records boss and Kraftwerk expert, Daniel Miller,
about the band's huge impact on electronic music. Daniel also chooses a
selection of Kraftwerk tracks, influences and rarities from across the
years including tracks by Organisation, The Balanescu Quartet and Afrika
Bambaataa.
To showcase the massive impact Kraftwerk have had on current bands, the
last part of the show sees London-based synth trio, Factory Floor
provide an exclusive guest mix.
